"Toluca Loop" British Singles Ride (non-club event) Starting at the Griffith Park Zoo parking lot, we’ll sneak up to Mulholland Dr. the back way through the Hollywood Hills. After cruising the full paved length of the famous and scenic ridge twisty, we will drop down to the San Fernando Valley via Old Sepulveda Blvd. Then we go through Toluca Lake with a stop at Bob’s Big Boy for lunch and end up back at Griffith Park. This ride is designed with BSA 441 and smaller, in mind, but all British Bikes are welcome. | February 16, Sunday | PAST PRESIDENTS' RIDE --CLASSIC RIDE Breakfast 8:30ish at the Flinn Springs Inn. (Past Presidents get free breakfast; rain check for Gene.) Kickstands up at 10AM. We'll ride out through Cuyamaca, Laguna and Pine Valley and back to the Flynn for the trophy presentation. Plan on about a two hour ride with a gas stop. Something NEW: Featured category for this Classic Ride is JAPANESE MOTORCYCLES. The rider of the best Japanese motorcycle, 25 years or older, will get a Trophy. You don't have to be a member of the SDAMC to win. What's the criteria you might say? well, the best bike can be a concours bike, or a mild restoration, or a survivor, or just a cool looking special, chopper or bobber. The Judges will decide. Wipe off that old rice burner and take it for a spin. Kevin will be driving the chase truck, so the 1968 Yamaha 350 will not be in the running, so you have a chance. |

| March 8, Saturday | ANZA-BORREGO DESERT FLOWER RIDE This year's date may be too early to catch many wildflowers, but it coincides with SoCal AMCA's Borrego Springs Winter Road Run. The AMCA guys have their ride loop leaving the Borrego Springs Resort at 10:00, so we'll roll out of Packards Coffee Shop (680 Main Street, Ramona, 92065) at 9:30, Santa Ysabel around 10:15, and down the hill via Warners-S2/S22 to Carlee's. Once we are down there we can have some lunch and head over to the resort for some photos and bike inspection, then return via Julian and split off for points home. I'm guessing you're more likely to get a spot, or at least avoid a long wait, if you call or fill out the form to RSVP. www.sandiegoindian.com/contact_us.asp. Marc P. sez: I just called and made 6 reservations for us at 1:00 pm on Sunday. We may not all 6 get to ride in the same session, but we definitely have 6 spots. They will have one of the big demo trucks here, with at least 16 or so bikes, all models, colors, some with Stage 1 exhausts (yes!), some with extra fringe, etc. The rides are usually about 20-30 min and (at least in Fresno) covered streets and freeway riding. If there were more bikes than riders for a session, we were welcome to take multiple rides on different bikes, I took three rides myself. There were local factory reps there to discuss the bikes, free food, swag, etc. BYO helmet. |

| April 5, Saturday | Trailblazers 70th Annual Banquet (non-club event) Kenny Roberts will be awarded the Trailblazers’ Dick Hammer Award at the 70th annual Trailblazers banquet, to be held at the Carson Center in Carson, CA. We are going all out to make sure this year’s event is something special. We will be honoring many notable motorcyclists at the banquet. In addition to King Kenny, we have a great group of both living and posthumous Hall of Fame awards to present. The Class of 2014 inductees includes Sid Carlson, Bill Cody, Dusty Coppage, Tom Horton, Jim O’Neal, Mary McGee and Ron Wood. Additionally our posthumous inductees include Howard Barnes, Charlie Barnett, Don Basile, Dick Dorresteyn, Terry Dorsch, Ernie Pico and Carol Sims. The annual Tom Cates Memorial Bike Show will be held in the courtyard of the Carson Center the afternoon of the banquet. Interesting and historic motorcycles, photo boards, and memorabilia are always welcome, especially anything relating to this year’s honorees. The Trailblazers M.C. is a sub-committee of the Motorcycle Industry Council. |

| May 3, Saturday | Cannon Ball Centennial Ride sendoff (non-club event) On May 3, 1914, Erwin Baker, a motorcycle racer and enthusiast from Indianapolis, Indiana, left downtown San Diego, California on a twin-cylinder, 7 horsepower Indian motorcycle en route to New York City. On May 3, 2014, Don Emde & friends will recreate the 11-day trip (with slightly updated machinery). The group is leaving 9AM from Sunroad Resort Marina, 955 Harbor Island Dr, Shelter Island. Stated class at Bonneville is F/GS, for F (2.0 – 3.0 liter) Gas Streamliner. The car won’t do much except go like stink in a straight line. About a 400 foot turning radius. Doesn’t even stop worth a darn. Best speed to date 309+mph. |

| June 7-8, Sat-Sun | AirShow San Diego (formerly known as "Wings Over Gillespie") (non-club event) The sequester will have no effect on Air Group One's air show as it has on the Miramar Air Show and many others around the country. This year's "AirShow San Diego" will feature a representative collection of aircraft and acts to support the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of "D-Day," the invasion of Normandy. Our show headliner will be the "D-Day Doll," a C-53 that actually flew three missions in the invasion. Back by popular demand will be John Collver's War Dog T6/SNJ aerobatics and Silver Wings wing-walking. Many other historic aircraft will be flying and on ground display in addition to military re-enactors, paratroopers, and a mock battle with "Pyro." Gates open 9 am to 4 pm, at Gillespie Field in El Cajon. Wings Over Gillespie Air Show is a once-a-year family event with a FREE Kid's Zone and FREE PARKING. Amusements, rides, education displays, a variety of food and beverages, plus a Beer Garden that will add up to a great summer weekend for all. |

| June 14, Saturday | Historical Photo Op 9:30AM until 10:15 or so in front of Trophy Motorcycles, 4952 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego. If everything works out, we will use this photo for the T shirt ride. You know the old picture, Market street, San Diego, it's on our club shirts. A bunch of Motorcycle people in front of a motorcycles shop forever documented in History at a time and place. This is your chance; be part of San Diego History, join us in front of Trophy Motorcycles. Fifty years from now people will look at that picture and wonder what it was like to ride motorcycles. They will probably be scooting around silently on battery packs piloted by the equivalent of an iPhone or a chip in the back of their neck. Bring your old bike; old bikes will be in the forefront. The bikes will be arranged from Winona St. around the front of the shop and well onto El Cajon Blvd. Should be done in plenty of time to start the Blue Knights poker run -see below. |

Info is here -notice the 86 mile route is detailed (with the stop locations) on page 2 of the flier. The ride will start out at Fun Bike Center (5755 Kearney Villa Rd, San Diego, 92123) where you can start your Poker Hand. Meet 9AM, last bike out 11AM. There will be three stops and the ending point. The ride will end at Goodie’s Bar & Grill (740 Bay Marina Dr) in National City. The cost of Poker hands will be $15 per person with $5 for each additional hand. There will be a $200 prize for the highest hand and $100 prize for low hand. |

| July 19, Saturday | AMA SPEEDWAY LONG TRACK NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP at Perris Auto Speedway (non-club event) Details are here. "The racing was very exciting last year from the Juniors, Support Class and of course, the First Division riders. Then you had the sidecars. The crowd went wild when they were introduced and after one lap, I can see why. Those riders are absolutely fearless. I think you have to be a bit crazy to get on a speedway motorcycle with no brakes, but to get on one of those sidecars, you have to be totally nuts! " All of the classes will be back in 2014 including the crazy sidecars. | July 20, Sunday | 26th annual T-SHIRT RIDE -CLASSIC RIDE. Meet up at the Kountry Kafe, 13715 Poway Rd, Poway 92064 (between Gate Dr & Vista View Dr). Kickstands up at 9:30AM, so get there *early* if you want breakfast. This will be a Poker Run through some of San Diego's scenic backroads, ending at Tower 13, 2633 S Coast Hwy 101 Encinitas 92007. If you have a classic bike, bring it out! But you don't need to ride an old bike, you just have to like them. Everyone is welcome on this ride, non-members as well as members, vintage or non-vintage bikes. But, since this is a "Classic ride," modern bikes will keep a respectful distance from the pre-1988 machines. |

However you get there, meet up at McDonald's, 340 W Mission Ave, Escondido 92025 (across from the Wagon Wheel Restaurant). Kickstands up 10AM, in order to arrive 11AM at the Renzoni Winery. Kevin sez: I have no plans for Nate Harrison grade this year, although if you want to go up that way, I'll point it out to you. Nothing is open up on Palomar, it's just a ride up there, and if you got the time, ride over to the observatory, and then ride home. It's usually a cool ride temperature wise as well. If someone is bringing a sidecar, they could bring a thermos of coffee and cookies, hint hint. I wonder where Pierre is. If you see a tarted up red Moto Guzzi Lemans, it's HIM. |
