January 27, SaturdayBARRETT JUNCTION MOTORCYCLE RIDE - oldies encouraged, but open to any bike.
For those who do not want to ride with the hoodlums, but want to admire their bikes. Meet at Nicky Rotten's (see the previous post) by 10AM, then head out in the opposite direction from the Rockers, eventually winding around to the Barrett Junction Cafe, Highway 94 & Barrett Lake Rd, Dulzura.

March 3, SaturdayDrool over bikes at the AMCA Winter Road Run
Meet at Packards Coffee Shop (680 Main Street, Ramona, 92065) for a 10:00 departure to Borrego Springs where we can have lunch at Carlees, then head over to the Borrego Springs Resort where the So Cal Chapter of AMCA is having their Spring meet. Should be some beautiful bikes there to check out. Then we'll head home via Banner Grade and Julian.
If you want to stay overnight in Borrego Springs, note the info here. A hotel discount is available for AMCA members if you book by February 2.

April 15, Sunday 22nd Annual Rolling British Car AND MOTORCYCLE Day (non-club event).
Start in Carlsbad at the Green Dragon Tavern, or in La Mesa in front of the Starbucks at Grossmont Center. Arrive around 9 am, and be ready to roll around 10 am. The routes will pass each other, and then merge for the final leg, arriving at Bates Nut Farm around lunch time. Please bring your own picnic lunch, there are limited options at Bates. May 12, Saturday BritIron's John Mulrean Memorial Lakes Ride (non-club event)
Ride time & date: Saturday May 12, meet at 9:30am take off at 10:00 am.
Same Meeting place as last year! Meet at the Lakeside Auto Zone parking lot: 12421 Woodside Ave, Lakeside, CA 92040
Directions: East on 67, take the Wintergardens exit of of 67, right end of ramp, quick left onto Woodside. Autozone will be a few blocks down on the right.
Break out those old Brit Bikes, it's time for a leisurely tour of the Lakes of Lakeside, a nice lunch on Donna's patio, and as always, a time to remember our friend John Mulrean, who use to lead the original Lakes Ride on the loudest Matchless single known to man. This is a great ride for older or smaller displacement bikes, no freeway! Truck your bike in, we'll help you unload! Bust out those Cubs, Victors, flat tankers, sidecars, etc. Other (lesser) vintage bikes welcome. New to the list or long time lurker, come on out! New folks on old Brit bikes always welcome!
Same ride route as last year, provided I remember to to ask Frank Secner to contact the staff at the various Lakes and set up our free entry. And yes, as always, I will get us lost! At the end of the ride we'll have a great lunch on the spacious deck at Donna Mulrean's house (donation toward food greatly appreciated). If you need to buy any factory parts books or shop manuals for your British bike, this is the time to buy them directly from the source. Donna supplies these to various retailers and always has a huge selection on hand.

The Classic Car Nights series will take place on the third Thursday of every month, May through September. You will find a variety of classic cars and trucks between D Street and J Street, with live music at several venues.
May 19, SaturdayKASEY'S MID-COUNTY CLASSIC MOTORCYCLE RIDE
All riders and bikes will be welcome. Please bring your classic bike if you have one. Parking is available for trailers. An 80-90 mile ~2 1/2 hr ride on no stress country roads, no freeways. The pace of the ride will be determined by the slowest bike ( or rider ). Start and end at Fat Ivor's Rib Rack, 27959 Valley Center Rd, Valley Center. Get there 9AM; kickstands up 9:30. Back for lunch around noon. We will have our own room for lunch and refreshments after the ride. Fat Ivor's does have a full bar. What more could you ask for, Bikes,BBQ, and Beer.

May 27-29, Sat-Sun 2nd Annual Steve McQueen Rally/ (non-club event)
to help bring awareness to the Boys and Girls of Boys Republic. The rally will be traveling around Santa Barbara & Paso Robles on a two day rally. We have a limit of 48 cars that can enter. The cost is $1750 which includes overnight stay on Friday & Saturday and entrance to the car show and dinner.

This time it'll be a visit to the Doffo Winery and their collection of almost 200 vintage motorcycles and scooters. Kasey will lead a ride beginning at Packards Coffee Shop (680 Main Street, Ramona, 92065) at 10:00 am. We will reach Doffo the back way via Sage and Benton Rd. All riders and bikes are welcome on this Garage Crawl. You're also welcome to ride or car in on your own. We will meet at Doffo at about noon.
June 23-24, Sat-Sun 9th BORN-FREE Vintage Chopper and Classic Motorcycle Show AND AMCA swap meet (non-club event)
"Born-Free 7 will bring together tens of thousands of spectators and participants and over 150 vendors and sponsors, live music, AND an Antique Motorcycle Club of America regional swapmeet. The Born-Free Show is built on the impromptu action of people building and riding their vintage Harleys, Hondas, Indians, Triumphs into the show which then becomes 'the show'. This is a place where the classics take the spotlight."
In 2016 there was a swap meet hosted by the LA chapter of AMCA. I assume it will happen again, but haven't confirmed this.

OK, apparently this year the emphasis is on the food, not the ride, so we're calling it a T-shirt BBQ. Sounds chewy! You can meet Kasey at Packards Coffee Shop (680 Main Street, Ramona, 92065) for a 10AM departure, or you can organize a group ride from elsewhere, or you can just show up at Randy's place at 12 noon; Randy and Judy will host a lunch. August 18, Saturday Potluck and BBQ in lieu of general meeting. Starts ~11AM.
Instead of the August general meeting we'll do a BBQ /potluck at Fiddler's Cove Marina & RV Park, 3205 California 75, San Diego. There is parking at the west end of the lot (that's outside the gate) for trucks/trailers. Steaks and baked beans will be provided for members and one guest /S.O. plus a limited number of children. Additional guests at $TBD per person. Please RSVP to Gordon at email4gordon@cox.net. It is a potluck, so bring a side dish or dessert to share. Bring your own steak knives, our plastic knives are just not up to this job.

Wavecrest is the largest of all woodie meets. It is always held on the third Saturday of September each year at Moonlight State Beach in Encinitas. By 8:00 am there are around 300 woodies of every size, shape, description on display. Food & live Hawaiian and surf music all day.

English Motors at Fairbrook is a unique gathering of fine English motor cars and motor bikes, nestled in the Fallbrook hills at Fairbrook Farms. This beautiful twenty-five acre horse ranch has an expansive show field with room for 250 cars and motorcycles, and up to 20 food and automotive-related booths. All net proceeds will be donated to Meals-On-Wheels Greater San Diego. Pre-Registration ends September 18, 2017
Open to the public 10:00AM-3:00PM. No entry fee for spectators, and ** ALL parking is FREE.** Food and Drink will be available for purchase, or you are welcome to bring a picnic lunch.

A short ride leaves 10AM near the Offshore Tavern + Grill (on Morena at Lister). The ride should be no longer than an hour and a half. Competition starts after lunch, which begins after the ride. To raise awareness and help fund the cure for prostate cancer. "Please be mindful that this is a classic styled motorcycle event. This includes Café Racers, Bobbers, Modern Classics, Scramblers and Classic Scooters. If you are not sure whether your bike fits one of these categories please check out our helpful style guide. If your current bike does not fit one of these styles but you still want to be involved, borrowing or hiring a suitable bike is perfectly acceptable!" There are prizes for the highest fundraisers.

The fine print, hidden deep in the FAQ: "DGR is simply about the niches within the motorcycle world. It is not an event for our friends on cruisers, sports bikes, motards, modern plastic scooters, dirt bikes, adventure bikes, tourers and Can-Ams....One of our goals is to keep these events small and manageable by our volunteer hosts. In order to do this we restrict the size of the event by restricting the style of bikes. This event is no different from a classic all-English motorcycle meet or a HOG ride whereby it is expected that you meet their bike criteria to participate. This event is exclusive to the classic styles within our guide."

The Ride begins at El Cajon Harley-Davidson, located at 621 El Cajon Boulevard, El Cajon, California 92020. For the registration fee of $15.00 (cash only) per person plus (at least one) new, unwrapped toy appropriate for an infant through 12 year old (the biggest need is for kids from 6-to-12 years old), you will receive a pancake breakfast (while supplies last), a commemorative challenge coin for the first 250 to register, Del Mar wristband (provides entry at the Del Mar Racetrack), and one opportunity drawing ticket. Additional opportunity drawing tickets will be available for purchase - check out the drawing page to learn about the prizes. There will also be a 50/50 drawing conducted at the dealership prior to departure, with proceeds going to Toys for Tots.
Registration and pancake breakfast at El Cajon Harley-Davidson runs from 8:00 AM - 9:45 AM. Riders Brief: 9:45 AM. Kick Stands Up at 10:00 AM. All bikes are welcome! All are welcome!
